1. General Information and Description

Botox for Hyperhidrosis is a medical injectable treatment used to reduce excessive sweating in targeted areas of the body. Hyperhidrosis occurs when sweat glands become overactive, producing perspiration beyond what is necessary for normal temperature regulation.

By administering small amounts of botulinum toxin into the skin, the treatment temporarily blocks the nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands. This helps significantly reduce sweating in the treated area while allowing the body to continue regulating temperature normally through other sweat glands.

Botox for Hyperhidrosis is commonly used to treat areas such as the underarms, palms, soles of the feet, and sometimes the forehead. The treatment is widely used for individuals who experience persistent or socially disruptive sweating that does not respond well to topical antiperspirants.

2. How It Works

Sweat glands are activated by nerve signals that trigger perspiration. In individuals with hyperhidrosis, these signals can become overactive, leading to excessive sweating even in cool environments or without physical exertion.

Botox works by temporarily blocking the release of the chemical messenger (acetylcholine) that activates sweat glands.

When injected into the skin of the treatment area, it helps to:

  • Reduce the activity of overactive sweat glands
  • Decrease excessive perspiration in the treated area
  • Improve daily comfort and confidence
  • Minimise visible sweat marks on clothing

The treatment targets only the specific area injected, meaning other parts of the body continue to sweat normally for temperature regulation.

3. What to Expect & When Results Appear

During the procedure, multiple small injections are placed just beneath the skin in the treatment area. The session typically takes around 20–30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

Most individuals experience only mild discomfort during the injections. Normal daily activities can usually be resumed shortly after the procedure.

A reduction in sweating may begin to appear within 3–7 days, with optimal results typically noticeable within 1–2 weeks.

Results commonly last 4–6 months, although this can vary depending on the treatment area and individual response. Maintenance treatments may be performed to sustain results.

4. Who Is a Good Candidate
